Sorry but this trip will not be available for this year's Mail Run but we look forward to showing you the joys of the trail in 2013.
This trip is your opportunity to be a part of mushing history. The Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Mail Run is a race that celebrates the dog teams of yesteryear that carried the mail throughout the Cariboo region. Each musher is made an official mail carrier for Canada Post for the duration of the race and is responsible for a bag of mail in their sled. With this trip you will be able to drive your own five dog team in the race after an intensive week long training with Warren and Kate at NorthernStar Kennels.
You will stay in your own accommodations at the kennel overlooking the Cottonwood River with all your meals during the training week included. We will teach you how to drive a sled with your own team of five dogs. You will learn how to care for, feed, and run your dogs in the week long intensive training. You must be physically able to participate in all areas of the race preparation and be able to be outside for most of each day. We will provide detailed lists of what is needed and what to expect when you register for this exciting event.
The dates for the race this year are January 20, 21, and 22 2011. Your week long training would begin on Friday January 13, 2012. To learn more about the race visit http://www.dogsledmailrun.ca.
