Our multi-day trips range from 3 day to 5 day trips depending on what you desire. If you only have two days to be able to spend with us please look at our bush Overnight option.
3 Day Trip
Our three day trip will start at the Cottonwood Roadhouse with an introductory meeting. We will give a brief introduction to the sport of dog mushing and the traditional history of dog mushing to the peoples of Canada. We will review the information sent to you regarding clothing needs, safety procedures, and expectations for the upcoming journey.
Then you will meet the dogs who will be our companions for the trip and away we will go!
On this trip you will learn how to camp with the dogs and how to care and feed them; your level of interaction will depend on your desire to learn and your comfort level. You can help with everything or you can just relax and enjoy the ride.
The first day will be spent traveling to a remote bush camp where you will sleep for both nights of the trip. The camp has a wall tent heated by a wood stove. All meals will be cooked over the fire. After breakfast, on the second day you will head out for a day exploring the Cariboo by dogsled. Lunch will be eaten on the trail in the true spirit of traveling by dog team. At the end of the day you will return to the bush camp for another relaxing evening by the fire. On the third day, after a hearty breakfast you will break camp and begin your journey back to the Cottonwood Roadhouse with the dog team.
As with all longer trips, all of the food is included. We offer a fare of traditional camping meals with a bit of a gourmet twist to keep it interesting. We will work with dietary needs as long as we are given advance notice.
5 Day Trip
Our five day trips are similar to the above described three day trips in format but the area you will be able to explore and enjoy is much greater. It really gives one a taste for how it would have been to live traditionally with your dogs as your main form of transportation.
Advance reservation is required for all multi-day trips. 50% deposit due at registration.
