Fall 2011

This fall finds us training again for a race we have not been to for a few years, the International Pedigree Stage Stop Sled Dog Race(IPSSSDR) fondly known in the mushing world as Jackson or the Wyoming Stage Stop Race. www.wyomingstagestop.org. It runs this year from January 27- February4, 2012. Jackson is one of our all time favorite races for a multitude of reasons, the beautiful terrain, the fantastic people and community welcomes at each stage of the race, our fantastic host families who we cannot wait to see again soon and the great comraderie among the mushers and the handlers involved with each team.  While Warren has not run the race for a few years, our main dogs ran last year with Lance Mackey and finished 4th. We are excited to take them down this year ourselves and look to improve on Lance's finish.

We will of course be participating in our local dog sled race, the Mail Run which commemorates the history of the mail being carried by dog team. We are actively involved with the planning of the race with our Gold Rush Trail Sled Dog Association and feel fortunate to have such a great crew of volunteers to work with. We are going to be helping out with the new side of the Mail Run, the competitive Stage Race to be run at the same time as the participation fun run. The mileages will be longer for the stage race but all the teams will start and end in the same place. Go to www.dogsledmailrun.ca for more information. The Stage race will be limited to 15 teams. Warren will be the Race Marshall for the stage race. The Mail Run is always a great time surrounded by great people and spectacular scenery. We are hoping to attend the Flathead Sled Dog Days again in Whitefish, Montana. The race runs From January 6th -8th, 2012. Warren was the 12 dog Champion last year and had such a blast there he wants to return. Find out more information on the race at www.flatheadsleddogdays.com
