Update

Hello all,
Well, I wish I could report that there was news from the trail but I am waiting with anticipation for news online just as you all are. The run that Warren is now on - from Cripple to Ruby is a long one and with the weather as warm as it is- raining in Anchorage as I write- I anticipate he may well stop and rest the dogs along the way so it will seem all the longer for those of us watching from afar.  he is still in a good position and only slightly off his original schedule not surprisingly given the weather. While I was only able to talk to Warren a few times during his last running of the race in 2006, it is amazing how much hearing from him and knowing what his plans and mindset are helps. I find myself thankfully busy with things here in Anchorage. My number of dogs here has risen by two - Diesel and Frank came back today. Both of them were dropped for general fatigue, Diesel with a sore shoulder. They were very happy to see me and were thrilled to get in their dog boxes in the truck for some much deserved TLC, both are eating well and resting well and enjoying their full body massages.
I am happy to report that Lena's surgery went well. We went to visit her yesterday- she was still groggy from the anesthesia and immediately fell asleep with her head in my hand practically as soon as I touched her. Today we went back to visit and she had been moved to a larger pen and was much more herself. She is definitely ready to leave the clinic and come home with me that much she made clear and her appetite is back. The leg is quite swollen but looks good overall. We are hoping she will  be able to leave the clinic tomorrow so Karen and I have decided to stay in Anchorage one more night in the hopes we will be able to take her with us tomorrow. I am definitely looking forward to getting back to Willow and less hustle and bustle.
For now, my bed is calling.
Cheers,
Kate

Hi Kate -- John and I are watching the website every day (sometimes a couple of times a day) and we are with you all in spirit. Talked with your Dad today and he tells us that he had a great time in Anchorage with you. Looking forward to more postings.

Love, Aunt Alison
