Good morning all! This will be a quick one before I continue the drive up to Circle. Karen and I are in Fairbanks now after the long drive from Dawson City. We left there later than we had planned due to fatigue and taking down the dog lot camp taking longer than we had expected. For those of you that have handled at the Race to the Sky and remember their pickiness about straw cleanup , the Quest was even pickier! But we got it done and moved on.I was glad to get to see Megan from Skookum brand anoraks again before we left Dawson. Warren received the First Rookie to Dawson award, a Skookum anorak!! Megan also gave Karen and I some older style anoraks to keep us warm - which we tested out on the trip over and are glad to report were great! Overall the trip here to Fairbanks was good - very long. After lots of consideration and discussions with race officials and locals, we have decided not to take the trailer up to Circle and Central after the recent weather with more expected as well as the lack of parking at both of those checkpoints. So wonderful Karen will be staying with the 14 dogs on the truck in the Walmart parking lot here in Fairbanks and I will return to pick her up after Central to go with me to Twin Bears campground. Magali and Jacques have offered for her to go there but I am not comfortable backing up the Beast (our trailer) down their sharp turning driveway. So if any of you reading this are here in Fairbanks come by and say hi and wish her a super Happy Birthday tomorrow!! We will make it up to her after the race with a grand celebration for her!!
