Hello,
I was able to talk with Warren abit yesterday about the team and the run at the Seeley 200.
The final team roster was Hula, Hulk, Hena, Frank, Black Dog, Widgi,Edenei, Hazer, Oyster, Ozzy, Brutus, and Cyclone.
The trail was hard and fast for most of the run, with the exception of the last run into Lincoln. Warren had to load Edenei for most of one of 50 mile sections. For those of you who do not know Edenei, he is arguably one of the largest dogs in our kennel. It never is the smallest or the quietest you have to load in the sled - especially during a race. Edenei has torn a muscle so he is off for the rest of the season. He can come join me on the couch. Warren dropped Ozzy and Oyster. Brutus and Cyclone did the best of the younger dogs.
Warren said that the dogs traveled well, even those for whom this was their first time at a big race and first time to Montana.
Warren is still down in Montana working on food drops so I imagine he will write about the race when that is done. Those of you familiar with drop bags for big races will know what a relief that will be to have them finished. His bags will be trucked from Montana to Washington state and then barged up to Alaska for the race.
We are getting excited for the two upcoming races here in Quesnel. This weekend is the Mail Run and the 29th-31st is the Inaugural Quesnel 200. We are having a warm spell here , plus 5 as I write, but snow is in the forecast. The trail boss and crew were out on the trails yesterday and say they are all still good so we hope that lasts.
Pray for snow for the Cariboo.
