Hello all. Happy New Year to you! Many of you follow Warren's posts on Facebook so you will already know that Warren and Sam left to head down to Montana yesterday for the Flathead Sled Dog Days Race. It was an eventful drive down complete with two flat tires, one in Kamloops and one near Revelstoke and a police visit to the trailer in Kamloops for a noise complaint. Ironically they were dropping and feeding at a truck stop right next to the train tracks and the highway so not what one would consider a quiet peaceful place to begin with. Sounds like the officer thought it was a bit ridiculous as well but had to follow through on the complaint. No tickets for violations were given. Flat tires were fixed this morning. They just made it through before they closed the highway in Revelstoke for avalanche control and they arrived safely in Whitefish late this afternoon. Tomorrow is the vet check in the afternoon and then the musher meeting. Race starts at 10 am on Saturday. Warren is the current champion in the 12 dog class so will be working hard to get there again. Sam will also be running a 12 dog team. The last training run here on Tuesday the A team and the B team were almost the same time so it should be exciting to watch both teams this weekend. The race website is www.flatheadsleddogdays.com .
