Hi all,
So as we are about to leave Lincoln, and start our journey north to Alaska, We did a final shakedown run yesterday.
I departed at 7:00 Am , ran 70 mles to Seeley Lake, taking just over 6 hours, rested 4 hours and ran back to Doug and Mels taking just under 7 hours. The trail was the best I have seen it , albeit quite hard do to the great temperature swings during the day and night getting to almost 50 F during the day and down to 0 at night. this makes for a tough trail on booties too though, We went through close to $200 worth!
So thats it. I must admit I was hesitant to run that far , that fast, this close to the race, but I am now glad I did. The dogs were so fresh when I got home, The trail was so chewed up that the dogs in lead coming back - Calvin and Cash were hunted for a "soft spot on the trail "that probably didnt hurt as much.
We are pretty much all packed up, I ran the dogs right onto the truck last night, Just need to feed again, couple of last minute things packed up and then off!
